Abstract

This study aims to design a livestock grass chopper with a capacity of 700 kg/hour. The machine used is a Honda GX160T2-SD with a power specification of 3.38 kW (5.2 Hp) and n1 rotation of 3600 rpm. Through calculations and analysis, it is obtained that the n2 synchronous rotation is 2755.1 rpm which is in accordance with the needs of the chopper. The single transmission system used consists of 2 pulleys with a shaft pulley with a diameter of 108.5 mm and a motor pulley with a diameter of 86 mm. The two pulleys are connected using a v-belt type B-46 with a length of 707.36 mm. The resulting V-belt belt speed is 14.13 m/s, with a distance between the pulley axes of 330.116 mm, and the pulley contact tilt angle of 176°. The design of this chopper is expected to contribute to increasing efficiency and productivity in the processing of livestock grass.
