Abstract

Genset is a device that functions to generate electric power as a substitute with the working principle of converting mechanical power into electrical energy. Which consists of a set of combined equipment from two different devices, namely the engine and generator. In a diesel generator that must be considered, namely supervision and maintenance of the engine, because what is currently being done is not optimal and results in the impact of the work system on the generator engine being disrupted. There was a problem with one of the generator units experiencing overheating at 87°C. By doing additional control of the temperature of the radiator temperature in order to find out the limits on the engine work system. So this research was carried out to design a simple control that can work automatically to stop the engine in an emergency when the maximum temperature in the radiator has reached the limit or excessive load usage. The design of this generator temperature measuring device uses thermocontrol as a system controller and uses a type k thermocouple as a temperature sensor, relay, timer, buzzer and alarm shirine as supporting tools. the contact or timer terminal is connected automatically to the emergency stop button which will then cut off the current and the working process of the generator engine stops. Based on the results of the analysis of the tests carried out in this study, the tool works at temperatures above 75°. then the thermocontrol works to send a signal to the relay, and sends a signal to the timer and the buzzer lights up, then the output of the timer automatically disconnects the current with a delay on the timer for 5 seconds. The generator turns off automatically and is marked with a shirine alarm warning that lights up and works to find out if the generator is overheated
