Abstract

Struggle is the main key to achieve and realize hope in life. When doing the struggle must be accompanied by love in it, so that when the struggle begins life has a color that can make the spirit in doing the struggle. Everyone in the world must have high hopes like the novel by Charles Dickens entitled "Great Expectations", it's just that the form of struggle that is carried out is different in each individual and wants a beautiful ending of the struggle according to each personality. Furthermore, the researcher is interested in the topic of racial discrimination in the novel of Charles Dickens. The researcher analyzes three main forms of struggle that include, Pip's love struggle, the struggle to be a gentleman, and the struggle for a good life in the novel are.

The thesis uses descriptive qualitative research method. The data is taken from the quotations in the novel and related to the theory and the quotations will become the proofs of the analysis. The researcher uses theory of struggle from the Novel Great Expectations by Charles Dickens to analyze the data. The result of the research is that the great hope in Charles Dickens' novel does not end with the hope that has been fought for by Pip's, but the struggle of love for pip's life gets its own happiness value, because of a peaceful life, love for others, and living everything with Sincerity is the perfect ending of Pip's love struggle.
